Why from Oregon, USA?
Different climates and soil compositions affect peppermint differently. The Pacific Northwest of North America, with its regular and abundant annual rainfall, offers ideal climatic conditions for peppermint cultivation. This also ensures a high menthol content, which gives peppermint its minty aroma and taste.

How is it sourced?
Peppermint, a hybrid of watermint and spearmint, is a perennial herb. The essential oil is extracted from the aerial parts of the plant. When peppermint is ready for harvest, it is cut at the base and left to dry in the field for a few days. Then, it is finely ground before distillation. Approximately half a kilogram of peppermint leaves are needed to produce a 15 ml essential oil. Throughout the autumn, the by-product of distillation is repurposed as mulch.
